Wheezer is a very large eight year old silver boy. We rescued him from a local pet store when he apparently bit a child. When we picked him up we were told that he was only four years old and had come into the shop when the owners didn’t want him or his four cage mates anymore. When we went to pick him up we end up getting a very depressed eight year old. He had some really bad dental problems and an enlarged spleen. We took him to the vet the very next day and got him some antibiotics for his mouth and got a blood glucose level. All turned out very well. He started off with chicken gravy immediately. He now gets chicken gravy twice a day and when he needs it he gets antibiotics for his mouth when he needs it. We do not believe he would survive the anesthesia so we keep his teeth as clean as we can. As a precaution we give him melatonin every day though he does not show any signs of adrenal. He likes ferretone, N-bones and ferretvite. He REALLY, REALLY loves rope toys. Every time he is let out of his cage he hides every one of the rope toys in different places. He loves sleeping in cat beds and cuddling in sleepy sacks.
